i want to ask about my nephew suffering from epilepsy taking epival syrup. he is facing severe concentration issue while reading or writing.is this because of disease? otherwise he is good at memorising things but he cannot identify characters and words.also has temper issues. please guide. he need a psychiatrist or should we consult any neurologist?

epival is an anti seizure drug..
it just suppress the occurrence of epileptic seizure,,,the concentration or focusi issue need some brain excersice....
psychiatrist or psychologist can help Better.

Although in this case a child neurologist can be useful but usually they do not have time or ability (because not properly trained for this). So a psychologist can help this baby for concentration. But find some good clinical psychologist, not all psychologists are good. Epival, normally does not impair concentration ability.
