Talk to Pediatrician on Hearing Issue & Delayed Milestone

person-avatar

Asking for Other, Male, 2.5 years old, Karachi

My son is of 2.5 years. According to BERA test he has severe hearing issue. Neurologist says he does not hear but we think he can as he can speak few words and respond on some music or instructions. He has delayed milestone achievements as he had jaundice when he was only 6 days. His blood exchange was done. ENT and neurologist suggested his cochlear implant. Its tough decision to take specially when we feel that he listens. Please advise what to do?

Severe Jaundice can cause permanent hearing loss and if the tests confirm it then please follow neurologist/ENT advice. Persistent hearing impairment may cause speech delay.
