Talk to Pediatrician on Lower Ribcage Bone Protruding
Asking For Someone Else, Male, 2.5 years old, Karachi
Can someone help? The baby boy had vit D deficiency after birth and was given a vit D shot later at age 1.8yrs. Now even thou all is fine, but his lower ribs left and right are still raised higher than upper ribs... can this be solved without any surgical methods? Please help!
This looks like Rickets and what you're describing is a Rickety Rosary. So we need a few tests to confirm the diagnosis and treat it. Get these done please. 25 Hydroxy Vitamin D levels, Serum Calcium levels, Urea Electrolytes and Bicarbonate. Also get am X-ray wrist done and revert back to us with the results. Also tell us if the child is on any drugs and if so, which ones. Thanks and God Bless.

Please get a pediatrician opinion after proper examination or if possible post a picture here. Usually such deformities are only treated if they cause any physical problems like respiratory distress.
this is due to vitamin d deficiency it will improve you better start calcium syp along with d max drops and see some orthopedic surgeon

Is this condition reversible? like the ribs can get aligned back into normal shape? the child is not on any drugs or any issues with breathing or anything.
