Talk to Pediatrician on Newborn Admitted In NICU, INR 1.8, Platelets 114

person-avatar

Asking For Other, Male 1, Karachi

My nephew was born on 8th February 2021. He was taken to NICU for 2 hours initially.

Ultrasound Weight on 6th Feb: 2700 gram (37 week 3 days a/c to lmp, 36 week other) Birth weight: 2.1 kg

8th Feb: After 3 hours of birth, low sugar levels (40) delayed his discharge. He was admitted in NICU 9th: oxygen was given to him. INR was 1.9 10th: INR was 1.8. Plasma etc was given 11th: Platelets dropped from 140 to 114 We were told that he will be discharged on 11th

Now they are telling that 2 more days would be required.

I found that INR becomes normal by 5th day of birth and platelet count also become normal without treatment (antibiotics to treat infection)

Kindly let me know what should be done. Should we get the baby discharged and see any other child specialist or just take him to home?

Need a bit antenatal history about this case too before suggesting or giving any opinion.
How is the baby doing? About general condition, temperature. What is the status of blood sugar now? have they started him on oral feed till now? you mentioned about oxygen support provided to him. Is he on room air now and maintaining sats?
Which antibiotics were given to him? Need to know about other baseline workup he might have undergone including blood chemistry and cbc, crp and blood culture report.
