newborn baby 10 days old poops 10 to 12 times a day on combination feed sometimes I notice strings of mucous in his stool is this normal?

on mother feed 10-12 stools can be normal.. baby also looses wt in 1st 2 wks . watch the baby closely for his activity and feed . stools should not be too watery .

Please ask 2 questions. Is the baby feeding well? Is the baby gaining weight? If answer to the above two questions is yes, then you need not to worry. This frequency of stools is okay. But if answer to any of the above questions is not yes then you need to take doctors advice. As a word of advice, I suggest to keep the baby on mother’s milk only. Do not adulterate his feed. The babies on mix feed will stop taking breastfeed.
