Her hemoglobin is very low. whenever Hb falls below 7 gm/dl and other tests show that iron deficiency is not the underlying cause, we have to do Hb electrophoresis.

Hb electrophoresis is must at this level of hemoglobin. If result will come out to be normal (InshaAllah) then many major diseases will be ruled out atleast. Hows her dietary history and which milk she's on?

It is possible to have a Haemoglobin level of less than 7g/dL in so called nutritional or iron deficiency anaemia. Other results in the CBC like MCV, MCH and MCHC, and RDW can give some clues as to the nature of anaemia, as does the peripheral blood film. It is worthwhile to get Serum Iron Studies and Ferretin Level before proceeding to Hb Electrophoresis.
