According to qualified children nutritionists, based on American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations, a child from 12-24 months of age is suggested to take 240 to 960 mls of water and 480 to 720 mls of milk in a day. 100% juice is very sweet tasting and lacks fiber, an important nutrient found in whole fruit. Once children are exposed to juice, it may be difficult to limit portions or get them to prefer plain water. Whole fruit is therefore preferable over the juice.
