Put Nebra eye drops 1 drop three times daily for 5 days in affected eye after cleaning that eye with wet cotton soaked in normal saline.
Reason: Its just infection due to lack of cleanliness of eyes.
Future Prevention: Ask his mom to routinely clean his eyes two times daily with wet cotton soaked in normal saline even in normal days when eyes are normal.
