Sciatica is just a symptom which cam be caused by piriformis syndrome or lumbar straightening. First of all right diagnosis is very important which is only possible through thorough examination.

In case it is piriformis syndrome, you can search for piriformis stretching exercises to start with. Apply topical analgesics throughout the day. Apply moist heat to the area and massage it as well. However, as you said the pain is severe, you need to visit a physiotherapist in person and follow the treatment plan to get effective recovery.

Hey, Go and get your thoroughly physical assessment done by Physical therapist. See this is necessary diagnose properly before getting your treatment, if you’re not getting exact or at-least differential diagnosis then it may get worse and take too long to be healed. Don’t make your diagnosis by yourself it may pull you in trouble in future. Regards

both of these conditions may arise from priformis tightness. you can start by giving heat in the area. Instead of normal heating pad, provide moist heat. for this, take a thick piece of cloth or towel, sprinkle/spray some water over it and then press/iron it, this will become a moist heat pad. you can start putting it over it the painful area. Remember not to burn yourself, it should be hot to the extend that you can bear. this can be used for pain management in the start. for further exercises and management of your condition, it is always a good idea to get proper treatment from a physio instead of just trying different things.

1) this needs to be differentiated properly, symptoms like sciatica are interconnected with many other conditions
2) treatment protocol will be devised accordingly
3) if pain is moderate to severe, visit Physiotherapist
4) if mild to mod, do self stretches for piriformis muscle tightness

Salam, I hope this helps you well. If your pain is in the butt cheek and worsen with sitting for more than 5-10 minutes. Then the protocol I can suggest is home based ( thats I can only tell remotely). Take a tennis ball medium soft ball to massage your butt cheek by half lying or sitting on it. Second is do the leg abduction and glute extension exercises. Do let me know if the condition persists. Or if I can help you further. Thank you

you have to stretch the muscles of the affected area if pain goes subside and without any numbness you should continue otherwise sciatica pain causes numbness and pain starts from your lower spine. For the following treatment protocol you should make an appointment with me I'll guide you exercise.
