My new born son has Postaxial polydactyly (Extra finger is attached with little finger but that is not functional. I don't want to go for Vascular clip because that can leave the scar. Need your advise to know when should I book appointment and is there any need of plastic surgery?
yes the plastic surgeon removes the digit and if just the little finger without the bone it can be easily done in early months of life in local anesthesia and scarring isn't a issue in early years .
Yes,consult Plastic Surgeon for management plan
i need to evaluate the status of extra finger .. n then we can decide the options to remove it.
if therez no none n muscles can excise it under local anesthesia .. so all depends on assessment
you can book can appointment
new born, will least likely get any scar to minimal scar, by any treatment.
Hello sir , usually vascular clamp leaves minimal scar , but we can also excise the extra digit once the baby gets 1 year of age . It’s better to see plastic surgeon in person for further assistance
