hi. i have depression and i am taking 375 mg effexor xr from 3 years for it. recently got diagnosed with ocd and my psychiatrist started me on 150 mg clomipril too 5 weaks ago but my ocd is not improving. my doc say that we should increase the clomipril dose or we should add fluvaxamine with effexor xr 375 mg and clomipril 150 mg .
i it safe to take effexor xr 375 mg with clomipril 200 mg.
or effexor xr 375 mg+ clomipril 200 mg + fluvaxamine.
I don't recommend so high doses of medication. effexor need to be reduced, your diagnosis must be reviewed ans then readjust doses

First of all we have to ascertain diagnosis and see that Depression is your primary disorder and OCD is secondary to it or other way round or co-morbid. Coming to management for depression there are many antidepressants available but only seven of them are more effective in OCD. In your case Efexor was not completely effective in full dose. If I am your doctor I would gradually decrease Efexor and increase medicine which is effective for both depression and OCD. By using them together in this dosage there is danger of Serotonin Syndrome. You visit your Psychiatrist and discuss these issues with him. I would gradually reduce Efexor and would not add Fluvoxamine. One more option for OCD and depression is to consult a Clinical Psychologist and go for CBT along with medicines.

my depression got 95 % better on effexor xr 375 mg. but i have ocd too. so my psych added clomipril 150 mg which is not helping. now he want to increase clomipril dose . is it safe ?

Welcome, I agree with Dr. Farrukh Hayat Khan, you should take and expert opinion, for diagnostic review and treatment review and you may need psychotherapy sessions if symptoms are still there in spite of high doses of medications. Thanks

can we take effexor xr 375 mg with clomipril 250 mg . is it safe. my psychiatrist told me to take 375 mg for depression because my dp got controlled on this dose and now 250 mg clomipril with it for ocd because i sm taking 150 mg but only with 10 % improvement
