Talk to Psychiatry on Bipolar Disorder Psychiatrist
Asking for Brother, Male, 18 years old, Karachi
My brother age 18 two years ago he had psychosis recoverd from it through medication. Now again he is mentally not stable Doctor has diagnosed in his first visit bipolar dis order. Hr remained normal for two years high achiever in academics. My question is we don't have any history of menatl disease Is the diagnosis is made correct by doctor or we should try some other doctor I am sceptical on his diagnosis because it is continuous disease he was all fine for the last two guide

How could somebody make diagnosis with this info. If you are not satisfied better take proper second opinion from psychiatrist either in person or online
it's an episodic illness between episode pt remains well.if you are not satisfied you can consult Dr again.in this type of illness regular visits are necessary

Take a consultation from same or other Psychiatrist..
It seems like Episodic illness,not continues.
If he remind free from illness with that medicine then it is possible the diagnosis is correct. So better to consult the same Dr.

The same doctor had treated two years ago and medicines had been stoped six months post treatment.
There are no symptoms of Mania but mood swings rapidly.
How long he will be in medication plz

It depends on confirmed diagnosis, severity and episodes of the disorder and medication response of the patient..
So it is better to consult a psychiatrist online or physically.

if he improved with medicine it means diagnosis was might be correct and in bipolar disorders relapse are common even with medications. check patients medicine complains or followup during his illness consult same psychiatrist and also get second opinion from registered psychiatrist. patients complete history and examination is very important.
any medicines that make him better should be continued for atleast 02 years after first episode and 5 years if more episodes are there

bipolar disorder needs a proper management, it is not always associated with a family history of mental illness, better to get him assessed properly and keep on follow up

in this case u can get second opinion too, but bipolar disorder needs many months to show improvement. and that improvement may not be much evident, since this disorder may need more than 2 years on contnuous medicine

Sir there must be some improvement in 4 weeks but not all.
This doctor is not clearing out confusion
In his first episode this doctor limited medication for 6 months.
Now I have came to know it would have been at least one year.
Please see the below prescribed medicine are these really work in bipolar disorder
