Talk to Psychiatry on Depression

Asking for Self, Female, 35 years old, Bahawalnager

I am not sure isit depression or not. I'm sharing her symptoms below, and if it aligns with your expertise, I'll definitely bring her to your clinic or schedule online sessions.

My sister-in-law started having episodes of unconsciousness two years ago. We saw a doctor who prescribed relaxants, which she began taking. After a few months, she had another episode and described a sensation like insects crawling in her mind. The doctor increased the dosage. At the beginning of 2024, she had another attack with severe headaches, unconsciousness, and the same sensation in her brain. She also started bleeding from her eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and urine. We've kept her on the same medication. Eight days ago, she had a severe headache that caused her to lose her vision. Now, she can only see black.

Please let me know if these symptoms might indicate depression or if this is something you can help with. I need guidance on what to do next. Thank you."

depression with dissociation would be the last thing you consider in this patient. there are some red signs that you have mentioned ( severe headache, ear nose bleed and loss of vision) . these symptoms showes urgent need of consultation with neurologist with blood and radiological investigations. if these investigations show no abnormality than u can book an appointment.

What medication she is on for so long?Have u arranged a neurological assessment ? The dissociative symptoms ( saying she has no organic reason and after excluding all possible causes we take it as psychological issues) is only by Exclussion. The bleeding from eyes nose etc will unlikely to be psychological. I have seen psychological blindness but again history of these symptoms indicate Full neurological problems to be ruled out before asking for psychological help. Good wishes
