Asking for Sister, Female, 26 years old, Lahore
She has always been a very paranoid and overthinking person but since this past year, her condition has worsened. She has been getting paranoid episodes where she feels like someone is after her and there is constant watch being kept on her (according to her). We have tried talking to her logically to dispel her worries but to no effect. She ran back home barefoot from hospital (gone to get antibiotics for an infection) saying that the police were after her and the hospital staff was gossiping about her, which turned out to be false. She also believes that there are mini cameras installed by people to keep surveillance on her, inside her room, which we checked carefully and turned out false. What should we do? Should we take her to a psychiatrist or a therapist? We think its schizophrenia but we could be wrong.
She is probably suffered of paranoia ( most probably schizophrenia), need detail assessment and management by psychiatrist preferable in institution having inpatient facility. Psychiatrist is the best choice in such patient .
Yes it is something looks like a psychotic illness . Perhaps schizophrenia or an episode of psychotic behaviour. Needs to be seen by a good psychiatrist .Will need one good assessment and medication. If u like I can help on video call consultation
must consult a psychiatrist
Strong suspicion of Schizophrenia…Urgent need of psychiatric consultation..No need for therapy at this time, therapy will only work after settlement of these acute symptoms..
This is a psychotic episode and need urgent attention of a psychiatrist, not a therapist as she seems to be having a psychotic episode according to the history.
consult a psychiatrist, she needs psychiatrist treatment. once she is stable then consult a clinical psychologist for therapy.
thank you
Psychological Treatment can also be beneficial with psychiatric interventions
