Talk to Psychiatry on OCD With Depression

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 24 years old, islamabad

I have taken many SSRI for ocd but they were nt working. Now i am on 200 mg sertraline since 2 months and 6 days i took 100 mg for 1 month and 20 days and then increased it to 150mg in 6 days and then increased to 200 mg in 6 days so i am taking 200 mg from 6 days. I have noticed 20 percent improvement in my ocd. I cant augment antipsychotic with it because i have tried all antipsychotic with ssri but stopped due to severe side effects. Now i want to know that what if me and my psychiatriat combine memantine with sertraline for ocd or should i do TMS theraphy for my ocd and depression

Respected!

My suggestion is to continue Sertraline for 4-6 weeks for maximum response before trying any novel treatment modality like TMS.

If this doesn't work, other groups of drugs with proven efficacy for controlling OCD can be tried before jumping to Memantine.

Meanwhile, psychological treatment needs to be initiated.

Memantine is used and licensed for advanced dementia and do not have strong evidence. Please stay away from these interventions which have poor evidenced base.
