Talk to Psychiatry on Schizophrenia

Asking For Brother, Male 40, Islamabad

My brother is suffering from schizophrenia for last 25 years. He is now 40 years old. He is not completely insane. He feels hunger, pain, cold or warm like a normal person. Also he remembers his old days when he was normal. Sometimes he talks like a completely normal person but most of times he talks to himself or someone invisible. My family is hopeless for his treatment but I still feel that his condition is not the worst and he may return to a normal time. I'm looking for suggestions from psychiatrists and psychologists.

Schizophrenia is cured with difficulty however it is treatable and manageable disease so that patient can lead near normal life .you should consult a psychiatrist with previous medical record. Even treatment resistant disease is treatable with special drugs

Schizophrenia is a condition which not only affects an individual but also the whole family.
your concern is understandable. You are talking about the residual symptoms of Schizophrenia here.
They are normal persons with abnormal perceptions which is due to chemical imbalance in brain.
i hope he can be helped by optimising medicines and also rehab and skills training
