I am final year medical student. Whenever I am at home, my sleep pattern is good like sleeping at 10 or 11 p.m. and staying asleep for 7 to 8 hours. But after getting back to hostel, my sleep stays normal for max 20 days. I feel sleepy like I am yawning but can't fall asleep at all. But after falling asleep, I don't feel any problem in maintaining my sleep. What do I do? I'm missing lectures because of it.
You dont need to be on any medication .
just follow simple steps of sleep hygiene(Behavioral sciences book).
Avoid caffeine and stimulants in the evening,also get some exercise in the afternoon .
Consult any psychiatrist to see if that sleepiness is bcoz of depression or any organic divers such as hypothyroidism, anemia and Vitamin D deficiency etc

Sir you won't believe, I've tried everything except going for testing hypothyroidism or anemia.
I sleep very well whenever I'm at home. I feel like my brain is hyperactive. I am going through many thoughts so rapidly with regrets like I have wasted another day, I think about death.
I am also GERD patient which also has not been cured after prolonged medication.

Please guide me.

Would you have repetitive thoughts going on in your mind before you fall asleep?.
If yes then see a psychiatrist as I dont want to comment on any diagnosis and treatment without seeing
