person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 29 years old, Lahore

AOA. I have been taking Brintellix 20mg for depression since 8-9 months. I fee stable now and have successfully taperd off it to 10mg since a month. Now I want to reduce it too 5mg but this dose is not available in PK, and film coated tablets cant be cut to half. Psychiatrists please suggest me a safe way to reduce it to 5mg, like can I take 10mg on alternate days or whatelse?

JazakAllah

yes, start taking it on alternate days. brintellax is comparatively easier to taper down, but do check for re-experiencing of your symptoms.

w.salam.
Hope you will be doing well.
Yes you can cut off film coated tab to the half of any good pharma and reduction over 2 to 3 months is necessary to reduce relapse amd discontinuation symptoms.
