Talk to Pulmonologist / Lung on Breathing Issues, Suspected Chemical Allergy

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, Karachi

I have been facing breathing problems since some years. I have been exposed to consistent passive smoking in my indoor environment, which has made me intolerant to smoke. Some time ago my voice started getting hoarse and my eyes burned when I was exposed to passive cigarette smoke. I was handling day to day routine by wearing surgical mask. The problem got worse. Now, I am allergic to a lot of things: air fresheners (can't be where they are sprayed), cigarettes (they make me breathless) deodorants (some toxic ingredient in it makes my breathing further difficult) and white phenyl (used in mopping but I have become intolerant to that too). I have made the mistake of ignoring my problem and it has worsened. Now, I have trouble breathing, and my nasal passages seem to be thinner/constricted. I breathe from my mouth a lot of times, and that has also made my throat very irritated. Last week my throat got irritated due to some allergen and I coughed so harsh a few streaks of blood showed u

You had described your symptom and triggers very well. It appears that you have Rhino-sinus symptoms as well as breathlessness. It is highly unlikely that you may have COPD due to passive smoking as its rather short exposure & your age.I would consider excluding asthma &/or hyperactive airways as well as Rhinitis. This requires good history and may be spirometry.

Thank you, Doctor Hayat. I am living in Karachi at the moment. Is it possible to have an online appointment with you? If you could kindly facilitate me, I could get the spirometry done here and report the results to you

Before I received the replies at Marham, I had consulted with an ENT Specialist here. He prescribed to me Klaracid XL once daily, Xynosine Spray, and Loratadine 10 mg once every evening, and an X-ray of my mouth/throat that I have gotten done.

It seems that. You have some asthmatic element in your airways which is aggravated by passive smoking. Please take prednisone 5mg tablet 3 times daily for swelling of. Airways. Montileukast tablet 10mg one daily panadol tablet one tds. Do sputum cs and if positive take antibiotic accordingly. Use syrup mucosolvon to liquify your saliva nasal drops to clear the nose, seritide inhaler for bronchospasm
