My daughter has cough since two weeks. We went to two doctors (child specialist) for consultation. One has diagnosed it as an allergy. While the other doctor has diagnosed it as a whooping cough(kali khansi) They both recommended different medicine. The first one gave allergy medicines, the later one gave antibiotics.
I wanted an advice that which medicine we should follow. Symptoms actually are: Cough at day time after every 10 min. But at night time it gets severe. Cough with mucus, which don't come out plus vomit kind of feeling. Temperature was just was two days which is not now. Chest/throat is fine acc.to both doctors. Im attaching picture of both prescriptions.
hi
cough is natures way of protecting ones air way so anything irritating the air passages can produce cough causes can have long list. What we are dealing here is acute cough of 2 wks. duration. history is important , did she had sore throat fever and upper respiratory symptoms at start, how is breathing like is she having wheeze chest tightness any family h/o asthma , any provoking factor , etc not every cough need any active treatment .if concern is about whooping cough throat /nasal swabs are important .Cough related to allergy usually comes with sore throat nasal and eye itching and some time tightness and wheezy feeling .if chest throat is fine you might just like to give time some time post viral coughs can take few wks. to get better of course if any worsening breathing concern it will warrant further evaluation
I hope this helps

Thanks for the querry
2 weeks of illness favours infection rather than allergy. However being a clinician I would like to listen and examine patient myself.
