If you’re taking methotrexate for so long and now pain is increasing, you need a rheumatologist consultation right away. Other than that you should get your baseline reports done including CBC, ALT, Creatinine and Urine complete and consult your doctor/rheumatologist.

Methotrexate is taken for years because Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic illness. You can't take or stop methotrexate without being monitored by s Rheumatologist through blood tests.Please consult for further advise.

Methotrexate is a good long-term treatment for Rheumatoid arthritis. The dose of methotrexate can be gradually reduced by your doctor if the inflammation in joints is under control. Sometimes patients experience pain due to joint damage which requires a different treatment strategy, utilising pain relief and physiotherapy etc. A doctor should be able to examine and advise.
