Assalamo Alaikum dear. Hematuria or blood in urine is very alarming for patients.Hematuria can occur due to multitude of reasons, benign and malignant diseases,after excessive exercise and exertion, after eating lots of red meat or vegetables containing phenols as beetroot or chaqandar. For people who are over 35 years of age,frank hematuria with passage of clots need an extensive work up which may require a bladder examination with cystoscope and a ct scan of abd and pelvis with i.v contrast. In young adults,infections are main culprit and an usg kub with urine culture and sensitivity may be needed to reach diagnosis. All of this ,of course , starts with a comprehensive history of illness,diet,smoking,history of contact and henceforth.
