27 F I got married in Feb 2020. I had no history of UTIs before that. In March 2020 I had blood in the urine, there was no pain but a lot of blood. Went to ER they gave me fosfomycin sachet, the Urine culture came null. But the Urine test showed 15 - 16pus cell and rbcs in large number. From march 2020 to july 2020 i had 6 such episodes, the pain was in urethra and surrounding area was irritated, there was no pelvic tenderness, US showed unremarkable changes in bladder and kidneys. They were always treated by IV antibiotics Followed by a course of oral antibiotics but uti would come back in 2 weeks. Symptoms were : sudden onset of gross hematuria along passing of clots with no pre existing symptoms, pain in urethral area almost all the time, no pelvic pain, no tenderness on pelvic exam. I got pregnant and the episodes stopped , had my miscarriage at 14th week in Nov, after that again got an episode of Gross hematuria Culture test never show anything, it is probably lab defect,

Hematuria or blood in urine is very alarming for patients.Hematuria can occur due to multitude of reasons, benign and malignant diseases,after excessive exercise and exertion, after eating lots of red meat or vegetables containing phenols as beetroot or chaqandar. For people who are over 35 years of age,frank hematuria with passage of clots need an extensive work up which may require a bladder examination with cystoscope and a ct scan of abd and pelvis with i.v contrast. In young adults,infections are main culprit and an usg kub with urine culture and sensitivity may be needed to reach diagnosis. All of this ,of course , starts with a comprehensive history of illness,diet,smoking,history of contact and henceforth.
