The caretaker Federal Ministry of National Health Services and Regulation issued an official notification of banking on the use of sugary products and drinks in subordinate institutions to tackle diabetes.
As per the advisory, the caretaker federal health minister has completely banned the use of sugary products and drinks in the attached departments of the ministry. The government bans sugary products to promote public health and curb the prevalence of communicable and non-communicable diseases associated with sugar consumption.
The ministry said that sweet products are prohibited from use in official functions or meetings. The reason behind this is that sugary products and drinks can cause communicable or non-communicable diseases.
The caretaker health minister highlighted the importance of promoting a healthy environment to reduce the risk of diseases. Dr. Nadeem Jan, Health Minister, added that to support these efforts, the government has launched a comprehensive program worth Rs 6.8 Billion aimed at the prevention of diabetes.
He said that his ministry had taken large-scale initiatives to improve the health sector in the short term. After determining the impact of sugary products and drinks on people of all ages, the ministry highlighted the need to protect the well-being and the health of youth and children from adverse side effects of extreme sugar consumption
