Tummy fat which is also known as Visceral fat – Scary name I know – is the cavity we have in our abdominal area. No matter how much the diets or workouts, the most stubborn fat to get rid of is tummy fat. Carrying too much visceral fat is extremely harmful. It can also lead us to many diseases such as type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease and even certain cancers. The questions we all want to ask is, how to get rid of it?
During Ramadan, when all our us are still adjusting to the routine, we are equally worried for the extra fat we’re putting on. But, the good news is, we have collected a few tips to help you get rid of this fat. Yes, during Ramadan too!
Here’s what we have.
1. Follow A Healthy Diet
The short answer to the question of how to lose belly fat is burn fat as much as you can. The simple technique is to burn more calories than you consume on a regular basis. In the fitness world, this is known as a calorie deficit.
For many people, tracking their calories and practising calorie deficit is very difficult. Sounds like a waking nightmare to me too. But, here’s a trick, install an app which will help you log your calories, or pen them down in your diary so you know what and how much are you eating. You can get a calorie calculator at google so you can calculate calories according to your food.
2. Do Not Eat A Lot
Intermittent fasting is becoming more and more popular. It is based on cutting calories or keeping yourself from food for a specific time slot of the day or week, and then consuming all your calories into a shorter time that you’re left with.
3. Try Weight Training
Working out not only means that you have to do exercise for 45-60 minutes. It will not do any good for you. Workouts have variations and there are types of workouts for every muscle group.
There are two main types of exercise:
- Cardio training
- Weight/resistance training
Cardio activities undoubtedly burn a lot of calories but weight training helps you build muscle. Having muscle means burning more fat even when you are not working out.
Fing yourself good workouts, targeting each muscle group. It’ll help you get rid of your tummy fat quickly. You can do all these workouts during Ramadan too.
4. Try Both Low And High-Intensity Workouts
Every time you workout, try keeping a balance between high-intensity workouts and low-intensity workouts.
Exercise using both steady-state activities such as brisk jog and high intensity i.e sprinting to target your abdominal fat.
Steady-state exercises include:
- Cycling
- Running
- Hiking
High-intensity workouts include:
- Weight lifting
- Sprinting
- HIIT activities like mountain climbers
