On Tuesday, the Sindh government ruled out early summer holidays in Sindh. The government has announced that all public and private educational institutions will close from June 1, 2024, as per the plan.
Summer Vacations in Sindh 2024
As per the issued notification, summer holidays in Sindh for all public and private institutions will start on June 1, 2024, and end on July 31, 2024.
The notification stated that:
“In pursuance of decisions taken in the steering committee meeting, all public and private institutions under the administrative control of School Education and Literacy Department Government of Sindh shall remain closed from 01-06-2024 to 31-07-2024 as summer vacation.”
Before this, the Sindh government was thinking of announcing early summer vacations in Sindh due to the heatwave in Pakistan.

However, they changed the decision after the MET department renounced the reports of heatwave in Karachi in the ongoing month.
On the other hand, the Punjab government has announced early summer holidays in Punjab for all public and private schools due to the ongoing heatwave in Punjab.
As per the notification, all government and private schools in Punjab will remain closed from May 25 to August 15, 2024.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that a large number of parents were in favor of early summer holidays in Punjab.
The decision was taken to prioritize the safety and comfort of the students due to the scorching heat in Punjab.
On Sunday, the Sindh government postponed the intermediate exams in the province for a week due to an ongoing heatwave.
The papers which were earlier scheduled for May 22 are now scheduled to start on May 27, 2024.
As a result, the following day, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) also announced that its ongoing matric papers scheduled to be held from May 21, 2024, to May 27, 2024, have been postponed. The exams will now continue from May 28, 2024, as per updated schedule.
Heatwave Alert
The MET office said due to the presence of high pressure in the upper atmosphere, many parts of the country will have heatwaves, especially in Punjab and Sindh from May 21, 2024. Moreover, it is likely to move on to severe heatwave conditions from May 23 – May 27.
