It was named Wahdat Hospital in 1960 and was extended to 55 beds. Later, with the advancement of medical, surgical, and diagnostic services at the hospital, it was renamed Services Hospital.
Services Hospital developed over the period and became a 192-bedded teaching hospital of Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) in 1977. In 2003, the government of Punjab established the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), and the Services Hospital got attached to it.
